Dr. Mark Poeppe

Dr. Mark Poeppe (Pronunciation: “Peppy”), Psy.D., provides psychological assessment to individuals aged 4-90. He conducts a wide-range of assessments that include but are not limited to; child custody evaluations, learning disability, forensic assessment, diagnostic differentiation, neuropsychological screening, forensic assessment, executive functioning, cognitive capacity, career and leadership assessment, competency, fitness for duty, adoption candidacy, functional assessment, transplant or pre-surgical assessment. Among his common referrals include; ADHD assessment, pre-surgical assessment for bariatric procedures, spinal cord stimulator implantation, and transplant candidacy, clergy assessment, disability examination, independent medical examination, competency to make medical decisions or to stand trial, child custody evaluations, dementia screening, various neuropsychological impairments or injury, Autism Spectrum diagnosis, Intellectual Disability Waivers, and others. Dr. Poeppe’s practice specializes in assessment-related work, leading to accruing large amounts of assessment experience, diversity, and often faster, focused results for his patients/clients which allows for quicker treatment integration and resolution of issues.

Although Dr. Poeppe specializes in assessment, he does carry a small caseload of individual psychotherapy clientele. Dr. Poeppe will see individuals aged 8-90; however, specializes in treating anxiety, depression, mood-related issues, life transitions, and working with professionals. He approaches individual therapy primarily from a cognitive behavioral perspective; however, incorporates elements from many modalities including but not limited to; dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), client-centered therapy, and mindfulness.

In addition to these areas of practice, Dr. Poeppe currently serves on the Iowa Psychological Association’s (IPA) Finance and Early Career Psychologist committees. He was awarded the 2022 IPA Early Career Psychologist scholarship and was nominated by IPA to the American Psychological Association (APA) as an Early Career Psychologist delegate in 2022. Dr. Poeppe has also appeared as a psychological expert on episodes of the Court TV series, Someone They Knew. This series is hosted by an Emmy-award winning journalist who has a self-titled talk show on ABC, Tamron Hall.
